Discharge & Post-Op

Once you return home, it is very important that you follow the directions indicated on the Surgery Center's Discharge Instruction Sheet, as well as any additional instructions provided by your surgeon. Should you have any questions regarding these instructions, please contact your surgeon directly.

Due to the effects of anesthesia, you should not drive a car, operate machinery or make important decisions for at least 24 hours following surgery. You need to arrange for someone to stay with you for 24 hours after you return home.

Be sure to schedule a postoperative appointment with your surgeon.

We will attempt to contact you by phone within 24 to 72 hours after your surgery to see how you are feeling and to address any of your questions or concerns. We want to make sure that your recovery progresses well, and that you were totally satisfied with our services.

You may receive our Patient Satisfaction Survey after you have returned home.

The Recovery Center
Several of the outpatient surgical procedures performed at the Women's Physician Surgery Center require that patients be observed by our nursing staff for longer periods of time following surgery and sometimes remain overnight. Our Recovery Center allows patients to recuperate in their private room with a discharge within 24 hours from the time of surgery. This extended stay of less than 24 hours is still considered outpatient surgery by insurance companies.

A family member may stay with you, if desired. We require that an adult remain with a patient under 16 years of age until the patient is discharged. It is also the discretion of the Medical Director or designee that any patient may be required to have an adult stay if medically necessary. Telephones are furnished for each patient's convenience. Please bring any personal items or toiletries that you may wish to have during your overnight stay.
